“It is very good for high movement jobs”
Professionals like nurses, doctors, and photoshoot specialists report. But despite the success of the shoes, some people have had some ill experiences such as discomfort and even severe pain while wearing the shoes.
This discomfort is prevalent in people with high arches on their foot. “The shoes may fit but will still cause pain”, they say.
No doubt these Shoes are still one of the leading shoes for professionals but an increasing number of people have opted to look for shoes similar to Dansko for obvious reasons, or even cheaper alternatives. Let’s see how we can help solve this problem.
Solutions To The Discomfort of Dansko Shoes
Get a DIY Shoe Stretcher
This gadget is used for loosening the vamp or any other part of the shoe. All you have to do is place the device in the shoe, turn the knob until the stretcher is snug; make another turn or two and then leave it in place for 12 to 24 hours. This can prevent weeks of pain and bruises trying to break in the shoes. This is a tool that will make walking on your feet easier and more comfortable. See here for a list of low-cost shoe stretchers.
Shoe Stretching Liquid
This is another useful tool; and is the answer to the problems of people who feel like cats and dogs are fighting in their shoes when walking. The liquid is not well known but it is incredibly useful. It is very cheap and works by loosening the fabrics on the shoes, making it easier to stretch. All you have to do is spray the upper and underside of the vamp of your Danskos with the shoe stretching liquid before walking around with them and the vamp will quickly adjust. Some people have to do this only once while others require several applications. The liquid should be applied with care so as not to overstretch the shoe and damage it.
Use a Cobbler (Shoe Repairer):
Shoe repairers or cobblers do not just fix damaged shoes, they can also readjust new shoes into a more comfortable forms attuned to your feet. This is very beneficial as the shoes are designed specifically for you. However, initiative is needed as not all cobblers are proficient at this. If you are not sure where to get your shoes readjusted you can google “shoe repairman near me”. The customization makes rocking your new shoes much better.
Return and Exchange
There is an option of returning and exchanging the shoes for a different size. This is a good one but this sometimes just transfers the problem from one part of the foot to another, a different style may be better and more comfortable for you.
Know Your Foot Design
Some people simply pick the wrong shoes because they don’t know their foot’s design, the Dansko are more rigid than other shoes and do not stretch out easily to your specific foot design. Knowing your feet can easily be known by trying on shoes and seeing which ones your feet fit into easily, from here you will be able to pick shoes easier knowing the ones you will feel uncomfortable in.
Apart from how good socks look in shoes, they serve a purpose of reducing the friction between shoes and feet. To avoid peeling the skin and bruising socks are advised for more comfort. In case the shoe is already tight, wearing thick socks may make it even tighter, you may want to take heed on that one.
Another method to reduce the discomfort of Dansko shoes is to try prepping your heels with duct tape to reduce friction and rubbing. It fixes everything, right. For people who spend a lot of time on their feet, this is a very useful tip. However, please note that this technique should be avoided if blisters are already forming on your legs.
Using a hair dryer on medium, heat the back of your shoes until they become slightly malleable. As you move your feet and walk around, the warmed material will mold slightly to better fit the shape of your heel. This works best with leather, suede, or cloth materials. Be careful not to hold the dryer too close to your shoe for too long so as not to burn or melt your shoes!
Get Good Insoles Fitted
Apart from adjusting your shoes, proper insoles can also be very useful. Insoles will add a slight lift to your foot, decreasing the surface area in contact with the back of your heel. Insoles provide a slightly tighter fit which can also reduce movement between the shoe and the skin, lowering the chance of blisters forming. They also make your overall shoe more comfortable and supportive. That is bound to make walking easier.
Apply Shea Butter
To your toes and the balls of your feet, put some shea butter to support your toes. This trick works for those whose shoes slightly hurt and a bit uncomfortable. The oily ointment will mitigate friction and ease movement while you walk.
Tape Your Toes
In other to avoid unnecessary pain to your feet, a trick often used by models wearing high heels on the catwalk is to tape your third and fourth toes together with surgical tape. This eases pressure on the nerves and prevents that all too familiar ache in the ball of your foot, at least for a little longer
